Toronto Museum Exhibits Peru's Golden Age

Visitors to Toronto's Royal Ontario Museum can expect to be dazzled by "Ancient Peru Unearthed: Golden Treasures of a Lost Civilization," a glittering new exhibit.

Contrary to popular belief, much of the gold plundered from Peru by the Conquistadors was not produced by the ancient Incas. Instead, as exciting archaeological research now reveals, this extraordinary gold work was produced by the Sicn civilization, which flourished in the northwest coastal region of Peru from 800 to 1375, decades before the Incas rose to power. Do not miss this exhibit because you will also have the chance to see the new ultra modern building since on June 2, 2007, the ROM holds its official Architectural Opening and Building Dedication of the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal. As one of the most important architectural projects of our time and a distinctive new symbol of Toronto for the 21st century, the Lee-Chin Crystal marks the beginning of a new age for the ROM.

Caribana 2007

Caribana 2007 is a celebration of culture. Derived from Canada's Bi-Centennial Celebrations, in addition to Canada's embracement of its Caribbean community, the world famous festival, Caribana, attracts close to 1 million tourists and spectators globally to the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) each year. It has become one of the largest annual events held in Southern Ontario, Canada.

The Caribana Festival is an exciting six-week cultural explosion of Caribbean music, cuisine, revelry as well as visual and performing arts. In its 40th year it has become a major international event and the largest cultural festival of its kind in North America.
